 The winning trick count (closely related to the law of total tricks)

Let me immediately disclaim all credit for this and point you to Harry  Freeman's site where you will find a very thorough explanation. It is here.

Before I leave you to browse this at your leisure, let me make a couple of points. In no way will this novel technique replace the traditional methods of hand evaluation, specifically estimating your 'point-count' using the standard approach of ace equals four, king equals three etc. However, it is quite fascinating, well worth some study and illustrates very well the strength of a large combined trump holding. It is also worth saying that it has nothing to do with the losing trick count which you will find here
