Responding to partner when she has fallen off her chair

This is a comparatively unusual circumstance at the bridge table, and the recommended sequence of actions should be:-

  1. Pick her up off the floor
  2. Enquire as to her general state of health and look for signs of inebriation
  3. Ask her to repeat her bid.

Serendipity

Playing cut-in rubber bridge, Terence Reese, now sadly deceased, found himself in the unenviable position of attempting a grand slam with the ace of trumps missing,  and inevitably went one down. Afterwards, a kibitzer asked the lady who held the ace of trumps why she had not doubled. She replied " You don't know Mr Reese. He always redoubles."
