Odds and Ends

Supporting partner, after a suit bid, with 16+ points

Make sure you are happy with the preamble which precedes the 6-8 point treatment.

You are now definitely in the slam region, and would either mark time, ask for Aces at once or just shoot 6H or 6S. Note that slam hands are given a separate treatment here as ploys such as cue-bidding etc are very important in this context.

S A97 After 1H from partner, an immediate request for aces is probably best. The disappointing response of 'one ace' can then lead to a sign-off in 5H.

S K3 After 1H from partner, 2C is probably best with this aceless hand. If partner makes a weak rebid of 2H or 2D, it is probably better to settle for 4H.

S none After 1H from partner, you have slam aspirations. Will your ace-asking method pin-point which two aces partner  has   (most likely ) got ? If not, go straight to 6H.
