Practice hands for big unbalanced situationsHand 1. Dealer is North. Vulnerability is love all. Try an auction yourself before looking at mine.
My preferred auction would be:-
The lead is the king of hearts. Work out how you would play it before reading on. You have eleven certain tricks ( make sure you can identify these ) and extra tricks available from the diamond finesse ( a possibility that goes wrong, but which nonetheless should be tried ), and the diamond ruff in dummy. The latter works provided you did not discard a diamond on the initial king of hearts lead. A small tip. If you don't know what to discard on trick one, don't play your ace, ruff in your hand instead. You've lost nothing and can make the discard later when you are surer about what's happening. There is another way of making the contract through the club suit. Can you spot it? Hand 2.Dealer is South. Vulnerability is game all. Bid it yourself first.
After South's 2C opener, he would be very surprised to hear partner give a positive response of 2S. With one ace missing, the partnership does well to stop in 6S which is not easy to make. Email me if you can--or even if you can't. Hand 3. Dealer is South and East/West are vulnerable on this nice hand below. Try it yourself first.
Bid it yourself first. My preferred auction would be:-
This is an easier one to play, the heart ruff in dummy giving the
twelfth trick. |
